tactor 2019SS Collection

In October 2018, tactor held an exhibition to present its new Spring/Summer 2019 collection. The theme of the collection is COLLAGE.

Collage is a creative technique of combining diverse materials and elements. It seems that tactor consistently finds beauty in an amalgam of things. Like the last season’s collection, the new collection mainly consists of items for both casual and formal occasions, inspired by women’s closet.

With less use of the brand’s iconic graphics on textiles, this season’s collection clearly reveals the aspect of Japanese clothing, which is the designer Yamamoto’s identity. A long coat that wraps up the whole body, a shirt that reaches down below the knees, and a jacket with wide sleeves loosely covering from the elbows to the wrists remind us of a silhouette of a traditional Japanese kimono and haori coat.

A haori coat is characterized by the design that covers the body line, which makes it attractive for Japanese women who are typically slenderer than Western women. Besides, Japanese women traditionally prefer clothes that they can wear in diverse occasions. It seems to me that casual clothing that tactor suggests is well-balanced for business, private, and special occasions.

“A strong-willed woman is the muse of this brand. I hope that my clothes encourage and support women who admire such a strong person,” commented Yamamoto.

The brand is likely to gain wider support of career-oriented women who work with identity. It is steadily becoming popular among people to whom Yamamoto wants to reach with tactor’s clothes.
